    With sandstones, a porosity of 18% or more is usually needed for an economic oil reservoir, and 12% or more for a gas reservoir. Less porosity, perhaps as little as 9%, is needed if the sandstone is also fractured.

    Yet both Mereenie and the Cooper Basin produce oil from reservoirs much less than 18% porosity without being significantly fractured, and JW-1 seems to be on par with them.

    So please, nobody stress about this paragraph just yet. ;) 11% is obviously potentially economic in central Australia, particularly at modern oil prices.

    And that's before fraccing - 11% plus a good frac is definitely potentially economic (assuming you can get a good frac which is not certain).
