Angola: Government grants Sonangol natural gas prospecting rights [ 2008-07-14 ]


Luanda, Angola, 14 July – Angolan state-owned oil and gas company. Sonangol has been given mining rights for prospecting, surveying, development and production of natural gas under the terms of a concession granted Friday by the Angolan government.

In a meeting of the Council of Ministers, the government also granted Sonangol the concession to liquid and gaseous hydrocarbon prospecting, surveying, development and production in blocs 12 and 13.

Bloc 12 is located on land to the south of Luanda, in Bengo province.

The government also removed blocs 9 and 21 from the list of areas related to oil concession tenders that began in 2007 and which had been granted to Sonangol. (macauhub)
