Did you actually read the article? The company itself said it would be uneconomic to mine the 9ha surrounding the conservation land.
A timely reminder that BRL only has til 2022 for the existing permit for Buller, also making it likely to be uneconomic with the total costs needed to develop it and 2-3 years of actual mining before needing to reapply for a permit. And good luck with the current lot still in power then!
