I believe the US real estate portfolio (mostly units in the southern states) has also declined in value significantly with the property market bust over there. So, I guess you could say that this was purchased at the top of the cycle as well.
I also saw something this morning that said BNB had bought the "Golden Pages" business a year or two ago for $120 million and it was now being sold for $10 million. So it seems that in some instances they simply paid too much for assets too.
However, I do believe that a large portion of their assets are of a high quality and if they can be sold should attract good prices.
