here's a small snippet on equities in 2017 and the Trump effect. It's a fairly wide held view in the so called "investment community" contrary to what has been naively claimed here recently....while they acknowledge the short term enthusiasm of the election, they all say this as well:

Roger Early: The key may be the stance on globalization. If Trump stresses an isolationist agenda, that could be troublesome for U.S. growth and certainly not good for global growth. It would be an agenda that could hurt confidence and affect equity markets. We could also see divergent monetary policies, growth could slow down, and by mid-to-late 2017, a growth shock is not out of the question. If that’s the case, given that most risk assets, including credit, are fully priced, markets face a challenge** later in the year. (source: The way forward 2017 Global Investment Outlook

They also go on to say that the proposed infrastructure fiscal stimulus will also give short term gains but substantial longer term problems with the ever ballooning US debt. And given that the price of gold has very quietly and persistently edged up, there is significant money hedging right now into a future risk on scenario.

So in light of their own analysis it's even more interesting that Mac Equities is a net buyer of AJX and probably on going. Food for thought.
