Not only the patents -- Rosemarie Osborne was the lead author of the presentation of OBJ's magnetic microarray at the same Dermatological conference discussed in the article :

"There may be up to a 10 year difference between the age of the skin near the eye and the rest of the face.” This was among the main findings of a poster presented by the Olay team at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in Washington, DC."

Magnetic-based applicators that induce diamagnetic repulsion and induced charge permeation have potential to improve skin benefits following application of skin care moisturizer formulations by increasing stratum corneum penetration. We evaluated the skin barrier response to a moisturizer formulation containing niacinamide when applied with an applicator designed with specifically constructed magnetic microarray. Clinical evaluation of the magnet applicator was conducted in a 4-week, randomized and controlled forearm study of 54 white women aged 30-60 years old, with a baseline TEWL range of stratum corneum barrier function from 6-16 g/m2 /hr. The results indicated a significant improvement in skin barrier as determined by TEWL with the niacinamide formulation applied with the magnet applicator as compared to either no treatment or treatment with the niacinamide formulation applied by finger. The product was well tolerated regardless of application method, as indicated by low visual redness and dryness expert grades. These findings suggest that magnet applicators provide clinical benefits and offer a new approach toward enhancing the delivery of skin care moisturizer formulations to the skin.
