Back in the 60s (the olden days), there was a BBC TV comedy called, I think, Till Death do us Part.
Now that show was totally based on the idea of political divide in the generations. The head of the household, Alf Garnett (?), was the most extreme racist & bigot on all kinds of issues you could think of. In fact his extremism is what made the show so funny. The son in law, I can't remember his name except "long haired git" or such like, would always take the opposite view on everything whatever it was. Then the two females, the mother in law and the daughter, would throw in their two bob's worth when they got the chance. Whatever the mother would say, old Alf would reply "what would you know about it you silly old moo"?
It was a hilarious program but it would never get a run today, because there are too many people who want to shut down speech they don't like eg Twitter.
The Office might have come close on the scale of outrageousness, but never imo so funny.
The Americans made their own version of Till Death but without any real humour.
