@JACK; my maternal grandfather worked in Cornwall's coal mines - he died from black lung before I was born. My paternal grandfather worked in 'the mines' and he too died from black lung - I never met him either! One of my uncles used to hand deliver briquettes - he died from black lung!
My mother died from pulmonary fibrosis - she'd lived in the LV until she married my Dad and struggled to breathe for more than decade before she died.
After my own nuclear family lived in the Latrobe Valley for a decade our son developed asthma and our daughter suffers from chronic lung infections - we were downwind of Hazelwood and Yallourn power stations.
Apparently unlike you I'm concerned about the impact Old King Coal has on the long term health of miners, their families and their communities.
When cleaner, cheaper and better sources of power are available, the time has come to stop $Feeding the $Greed of those whose pockets are already bulging at the expense of the health of their workers and battling taxpayers who fund Australia's health services.
