Mate, they have had communal pet dogs in old folks homes for ages. Yes, a great idea (the dogs), but there's something about the natural comradeship between the elderly and little kids, which is a difficult juxtaposition to explain. Nothing could be more right. Spend some time in an aged care facility and watch the mutual joy both age groups experience and you will change your opinion - I'm sure.
