Justlookin - good point but the CT came on later and just compounded the initial policy mistake - the initial problem started with the RSPT and then the MRRT which failed to take the ongoing GFC (sovereign and bank crisis) into consideration.
That is because they lack business acumen and any semblance of management ability. Swan and Gillard had their chests puffed out 'look at us' (we bought our way out of trouble) and assumed wrongly we had 'made it' through the GFC. Remember that crap? - it made me want to vomit.
Then they followed through with their ill timed socialist rot spending our future (income) money wildly and falsely pushing GDP so hard that the RBA had to tighten. Modern economics leaves me shaking my head.
