    while Omicron may be rightfully described as less fatal, less inducing of severe illness, this is an uncertain "less" than some would describe the bug.

    here in Aus we've had delta remaining current and the identification of omicron apart from delta has been hampered by budget cuts to pathology services and reduced capacity of such services to process PCR testing.

    we no longer have an accurate picture of the infection spread and only hospitalisations, ICU admissions and mortality figures can give us a rough guide as to the danger posed by omicron.

    I do value international figures as other countries are taking the virus seriously and spending on pathology services is considered vitally important to inform medical science and practicing doctors/epidemiologists etc as to exactly how serious the infection is.

    under-estimating the danger of omicron is the biggest folly.

    its not like a flu or a cold. Covid remains a great danger to our public health and by extension, greatly damaging our economy.

    the fools in Federal Govt refuse to accept the facts and want to hide the data so that we are less well-informed.
