Yes very hard to prove, which is why I like to sit on the fence for the most part. But there are some things we know for sure, and could call them facts, such as: Big tech use our data to manipulate political and popular opinion (FB-Cambridge). MSM manipulation began with Murdoch in the 70s and has since become extremely sophisticated. ABC is hard left-wing, SkyTV is hard right-wing - everyone knows it. Big Pharma have paid the largest criminal fines in US history for misleading the public. All of these organizations employ people to massage and manipulate the truth for profit. As for market manipulation, there's plenty of evidence out there in respectable finance journals and unbiased news sources.

Knowing all these facts, it's well within the realms of possibility. No tin hat required! Just awareness of how the big players do things.
