Most shareholders are invested in GOR (especially over the next 5 years) for capital growth and not for a 1% or 2% dividend.
GOR is progressing well and so is a prime cheap target for a takeover. This is why GOR is being shorted. This strategy will drive up the sp and force a much higher takeover offer rather than referring to the last 30 day average +25%.
As interest rates are low it is a good time to borrow cheaply, buy GOR shares and pay back the debt out of future cash flows. The low interest rates would represent a minimal cost to secure a much higher sp. This is effectively managing shareholder wealth and not just watching the passing parade. If a cheap takeover is completed then the existing shareholders do not get a chance to participate in the $4 share value in 5 years time.
Any new discovery will be a long way off being proven so may not impact on the shorters in the short run
As a shareholder ask the Board to consider this strategy.
