    Hi bigstar.

Belinga is looking like being cut up into several operators running it.If it gets an Environmental pass.
The Belinga iron ore tenement has already been altered to exclude protected park lands that had originally been included. This was reported on March 30th 2013.

    Report of 2008.
archaeological artefacts have been found in two new caves on the East side and on the west side of the main ridge a complex of larger and smaller caves and cavities.
The caves have been found in a belt at 700m around Belinga Mountain Range with the Begonia Ferramica, waterfalls and cavities.
Presently only a small portion of the cave belt has been prospected and only a few caves have been properly excavated. These are privileged circumstances as most archaeological artefacts in the rain forest are not or poorly conserved. This area is rich in finds and more research in this area would contribute to a greater understanding of the pre-European history of Central Africa. This could put a hold on Belinga for some time.

The Report also says that The Belinga Mountains have all the star qualities to become a World heritage site, alas.
Also says. Access roads were in the process of getting shut off and therefore this is probably the last biodiversity assessment done in the Belinga Mountains. There have also been dwarf forest discovered on the hadest iron stone bedrock ridges.

The geological formation of Belinga is very special and one of only three places in the World. The mountains consist of Itabirites (ABI) with around it green schist (ABV), which date back to 3200-2700Ma and they point back to the time when for the first time in the Earth's history oxygen started to rust including these mountains.

Around 700 m rocky cliffs occur forming a belt of cascades and small to larger caves around the range.
These are the rocks with the largest iron content as large sparks light up with the strike of a machete. The ciffs are also covered by the endemic Begonia ferramica.

Also it said that most of the dwarf forest has most probably been destroyed. The habitat is probably destroyed with the construction of the roads which follow the main ridge, which is also the main occurrence of the habitat. It needs to be seen whether similar habitat exists on adjacent mountains around the Belinga Mountains.

The road construction was done by the Chinese company CMEC without getting Environmental impact assessment approval, this was entirely bypassed. Also without consulting with the local communities. That is why China EximBank pulled funding from the Chinese Company that had the permit to explore The Belinga Tenements.
Mark Ona Essengui of Brainforest and closely associated with the Rainforest Foundation UK. Mark won the Goldman Prize for his work and bringing it to the attention of the World about what The Chinese did to the Gabon Rain Forest.

This Biodiversity of The Belinga Mountains was written up in 2008.

    Regards
    Westcott.
