    Because it has always been a problem to deal with the gas when coal mining. CSM became free profit instead of a problem. Plus they can put the spin of extra water for drought stricken Oz to be used by farmers etc.

    UCG also had a trial go bad in terms of ground water contamination in the US. People only remember the bad.
