Thanks Asimov, they are informative. Have added Steve's websites to my favourites. The comparison to the Kobe earthquake in 1996 is interesting. Looking at the AJ and UJ we are on similar paths already - the blow off lasted 3 months + a consolidation period. Apr1995 was then the top for the EU at the time also - so some strong similarities so far.

1996 marked the start of the massive run into US equities into the first 2000 dotcom bubble. What is the recovery bubble this time around????

A couple of things are running in conjunction with the 2011 Japan earthquake - am doing up a public access spreadsheet which will be of interest to everyone on this forum.

In terms of costs, the Kobe earthquake was 2% of 1996 GDP ($132Bn in 1996) - slightly lower in real terms than the estimates for the 2011 Sendai eqrthquake, with the lives lost in Sendai 2011 estimated to be double.

Importantly, Kobe marked multi year tops in commodities - but the US was about to boom, the 10 year commodity boom didn't start until the 2001 lows. Somethin GannGlobal says in the video - a final top in commodities???

What will happen this time around??? A ton of similarities.
