My point being that it is not just the fact that the shares went ex div that made the share price fall.
Today's low of $1.70 was achieved by both panic selling & short sellers taking advantage of the shares being ex div & re-balancing of the indicies.
The fact that the shorts were hurt by the recent increase in the share price has given them sufficient incentive to push the price lower at this time.
The share price will probably partially correct back up before the shorts have another go & push the price back down again.
