re: downside figures for the correction... jazz not sure if long term down trend .... the underlying companies seem to be making more & more corp profits ..

in my uni days they used to say a company value was the present value of futre earnings, or what someone was prepared to pay for it ...
but the philosophy would lead me to say if the companies keep making profit they are inherintly worth something, this would mean this is a correction
