Had a chat with my eye surgeon recently about canaloplasty at my 6/12 review. I had a stent placed 6 years ago which stopped working after oil was put in my eye when I suffered a detached retina. I've also had SLT laser to keep the pressure down & I was discussing the possibility of canaloplasty but he wasn't keen because he said there is a chance that the procedure can dislodge the stent (from its location in schlemms canal) into the anterior chamber of the eye where it would require removal.
The reason I mention it is that we've discussed that surgeons can only get reimbursed for one migs procedure at a time and that there's nothing to stop them performing a second migs procedure at a later date. To me it seems very likely that canaloplasty will be the first choice procedure & if a further reduction in IOP is required subsequent placement of a stent in the enlarged Schlemm's canal. My reasoning is that this order of procedures seems to reduce the chance of complications ie displacement of the stent.
This is only the opinion of one surgeon so it might not actually be the case as there may be a way around it by those surgeons that are more experienced with itrack advance eg not doing the full 360
