I think you may be being a little too negative, possibly even catastrophising the situation needlessly. Hopefully, for you as well as a lot of others, myself included, the night always seems darkest before the dawn.

At some point in the not too distant future they will roll out (or more hopefully, hover out) the market ready model with the new motor and it will excite a lot of new press and interest. Having a saleable functional product will shoot the SP back up where it should be, and you can retire in comfort.
