Very true and the fact is Politicians in Australia are totally ignorant when it comes to costs in manufacturing.
Australia cannot compete with power costs, labor costs, red tape which is applied to every part of process. The product isn't even up tp scratch today as corners are cut trying to make a profit.
Frankly, Australia is good at digging out minerals to supply those who are more competent than us in manufacturing. Today many of these migrants coming to Australia are being employed in manufacturing, most are poorly educated and bring their own slack standards and employers have problems trying to get them up to speed.
Also as the baby boomers who were competent in their trades are now retiring, and its difficult to find people who are competent to replace them.
