Justis - always having spent a lot of money on computers I finally followed the advice of an ex-boyfriend of one of my girls to buy second-hand computers - if possible 2 - from Grey's online.
I did - this was 5 years ago - total cost for two (second-hand - 1 years old) Dell computers (and I did have a functioning screen): $300 - plus a later upgrade to more memory: $150.
No. 1 died a sad electric storm frying death, which relieved me of the responsibility to search/select/reject 100s of photographs, possibly thousands. No. 2 then sprang into action with the addition of an extra memory board and I am still on it, - so it could last a while. But then, I do not play computer games.
People used to tell horror stories about upgrading to Windows 10, but I believe it is much better now and I will convert, but want to deal with some files on here first, including the newly accumulated photo files - although not much seems to have changed over the years in that department and they'll probably transfer o.k.
Similar with my mobile: I have recently upgraded from an old Nokia to a Nokia Lumia 930 for a total cost of $110 - has excellent photographic capability and all the Apps you could want. But generally I do have the usual jumble of gadgets and cables in a dedicated drawer and keep finding more. My computer stuff is still wired, don't believe in too much of the electronic fog in your living quarters.
