While he is away,his partner will also have to do the following
Make sure she kisses the boss's ar** every day so she can keep her job. something that in previous years she would have laughed her head off at the mere suggestion.

Go to the job every day knowing that others depend on her constantly to bring home the "bacon" or there wont be hair dressers or dentists appointments and any shoe buying will be at the salvos

Cringe every time she approaches the mail box for yet another bill

be expected to be able to repair the car,the plumbing,the roof,electrics,garden,painting etc etc or otherwise be deemed to be useless compared to Betty next door who can do it all.

accept the fact that if it all goes pear shaped,she will will loose not only her house,car but her kids too and she can expect to get the bills for the next 18 years or more and be prepared to walk past her kids in the street without recognition as the selfish sod she married decided to use her kids as a tool which some dumb judge says is fair.

accept the fact that the chances of finding another partner who is prepared to have their income taken into consideration when his new partner dosent. etc etc etc

yup can relate to all that nonsense too
