not entirely accurate.
there is no direct link to the taxes you and i pay and someone on welfare.
govt revenue comes from a number of sources, not just income tax, e.g. gst
public service workers should not have been included in this article - they pay their taxes too.
all revenue, yours included, is provided by someone else - your customers, or your employer, or the companies you are invested in ( yes i know, in exchange for products/skill/capital).
the point is an economy is an interconnected network.
the liberals in particular, see the economy as a morality play where the rich are to be rewarded and the rest are undeserving.
rather mediaeval somehow.
