gz i may be mistaken here but i think you'll find that Angus Huston is referring to only the latest signal, which has been ruled out, whilst the earlier ones seem to be fairly conclusive, if the word can be used in trying to find an object 15000ft underwater and potentially covered in mud.
if i am correct, this is just another example of the hopelessness of our media as effective messengers.
