One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts' media adviser and former Logan City councillor Sean Black has been arrested and taken into custody by Queensland police.
He was arrested on a number of serious charges, including common assault and assault occasioning bodily harm.
The 39-year-old was taken to the Brisbane watch-house just before midday.
Mr Black served as a councillor for the city of Logan, south of Brisbane, between 2008 and 2012.
During that time he was accused of bullying.
At one stage he was banned from entering the council chambers.
