Just because there is a huge amount of market interest in UCG dosen't mean the stock(s) are good buying. LNC website makes several references to the fact they are first company to try and commercialise UCG into deisel on a large scale using the knowledge from work in ex Soviet Union. They have also employed ex SASOL engineers.
But my point is that converting underground coal into deisel has not been proven on a large commercial scale.
Several large plants around the world convert coal into deisel. Transport costs are minumal as they biuild the plant at the coal site. Process costs about US$25-28/brl.
Anyway, the market will determine the value of LNC and other UCG stocks. LNC closed at $4.50 today. I reckon it is way overpriced. If others feel it is a bargain then go ahead. The mkt will give us the answer over the next year or so.
