I agree with the concept - but, I think it's now irrelevant - at least the toil bit.

We are moving now quite rapidly to a non toil world - I would far rather see thought, design and experimentation put into an entirely new system that can seamlessly cope with the human paid work tailing off and disappearing completely.

I've no fixed ideas, but, some ideas to throw about - IMO - we need some sort of group think - at least at national level - preferably at international level - and, personally - I wouldn't bother inviting the yanks.
I would try to throw out everything we know and leave our beliefs and ideologies at the gate before we enter the room - give it a total rethink.
We know the basics - and, that's the only things we begin with -

eg.
people need -
food
shelter
etc etc

we take the obvious knowns
we are going automated


that's about it ------ chuck around ideas that will give us a society that will work and leave no one behind
