As was observed centuries ago, the fall of the all powerful Roman Empire was attributed to the failure of the basic family unit. I personally am heavily involved with Rotary, an organisation who's motto is; "Service before Self". I witness every day the selfishness and who gives a sh1t attitude that pervades our society...the "me first" syndrome is very alive and well. The 80/20 rule lives on, 20% seem to care and want to help, 80% have a care factor for other people and their problems of zero. That will never change, imo it is only going to get worse, especially so while the "woke" brigade pander to Feminism and the anarchist BLM movement, and of course the blatant racism displayed by all skin "colours" toward each other. That followed by the "social" media phenomenon that is finding it's slimy way in to every walk of life. Mankind is incapable of looking after himself, society needs structure and leadership, beginning with the family unit..that is where to start, It is not a "universal" wage, or total automation of all work so humans can sit around and get fatter...it is about values, structure and respect for others.

@boatboy ; that comment demonstrates you haven't unpacked your experiences with Rotary very well at all - you may have learnt more from participating in a Lions Club where they focus on ethics. Here's another thought for you, we can we learn more about saving energy, sharing leadership and helping battlers from Canada Geese that we'll eve learn from politicians!
