Optimist69 - like the nic, I'm always hoping too...
I'm preparing for a trip to Darwin next week & am pushed for time - will try to research & address points in more detail down the track (I think there's still time to get on board this one anyway...).
??'Guangdong Guang Ye Assets Management Co Limited'.
    * Don't know them, but rpt says "(“Guang Ye”) is a company wholly owned by the Guangdong Provincial government in China." Being a gov entity I'm presuming they're big enough, but it wouldn't hurt to check...

??'Is it correct that they are talking about just mining in Australia and shipping the ore to China (NB 0.7% ore = 99.3% rock). How cost effective would that be...in other words what is the real likelihood of these people being interested in, let alone capable of, shipping large slabs of NSW to China to get out very low grade metal.'
*from rpt 4-3-04 "Rather than full refining, the preferred choice is the production of a metal hydroxide intermediate product to be sold to specialist nickel
refiners. This will reduce the capital cost and may accelerate the progress of the operation.
The Company has appointed an agent in China to seek investors/developers to progress the Young nickel project." note- first 'agent' was Metalmass.

    *from rpt 31-7-06
    "ALTA Nickel/Cobalt Conference 15-17 May 2006
A presentation was made to this conference on the proposed chloride leach process... An important enduser
expressed his view that Ni/Co concentrates from a ‘chloride’ route would be preferable."
Concentrates or intermediate compounds are generally shipped to refineries/endusers - an onsite pilot plant has been indicated (persumably one that can be upscaled for production?)- IMO shipping laterite to China hasn't been mooted & doesn't sound very practical let alone cost effective (although I think there is a project in the Phillipines that is employing that method - I'll chase that up) - is there chat about this hey?

"Seems to me that by agreeing to keep schtum for 6 months and not negotiate with any other China entity all that has been achieved by JRV is a potential 6 months hiatus...I suppose in the scheme of things 6 months is not long for this company...but it is not as if money is going to flow at the end of 6 months ...likely to be more of the same." lol

Maybe, but if they decide it's a goer then probably one of the first cabs off the rank will be finance for a pilot plant & feasibility studies. We might be looking at something like the European Nickel & BHPB deal. Personally I think the 6mths no-talky clause has a lot to do with building trust ('relationship').

*re 5yr non-disclosure & IntellectProp: Important point & you'd hope they'll have a firm grip on the IP rights.
    10/8/04 rpt
"This involves the use of hydrochloric acid at atmospheric pressure to recover the valuable components. This process is subject to a ‘confidentiality agreement’ which the Company has signed."
    - I remember reading a rpt with Confidentiality agreement btw parties for 5 yrs but can't find it right now..

Neat little summary for the project - 27/Oct/05
"The actual process mechanisms are not being released at this time in order to protect the Company’s interests. The various participants in the testwork programme have all signed Confidentiality Agreements"

Technical aspects: check out paper 10/5/06, see 5.2.2
Hope some of it makes sense, that's all I have time for - as for freezing the proverbials: bring on global warming...
    cheers
