The mine is already there, its been mined for tin for generations, so if you lived locally as you mention you'd be aware of that. The whole objection campaign is to do with the environmental issues that were ignored in the past. The lithium project is nothing new to the area apart from resurrecting the local economy and providing jobs to the whole area. The change will be minimal especially as it will follow the environmental guidelines set by the European Commission and thus more eco friendly than past projects.
