It’s not fair or accurate to call them tree-huggers. Their main concern is proximity of the proposed mine to the town, part of which is UNESCO-listed on the basis of cultural significance. The environmental concerns are secondary and are mostly related to dust and impact on scenery.
I think most shareholders would have at least some interest in the environmental benefits of lithium batteries and would like to see the project proceed in a way that has as little environmental impact as possible.
