I'm assuming he doesn't have $500 to invest, and $150 is nearly all his money?
Putting 100% of your funds into a stock is not good risk management.
So a good lesson would be to tell him to save around $1000 - $1500, and then invest $500 - $1000 in 1 or 2 stocks.
