You could double the cost of generation without affecting power bills too much. Clean Coal isn't going to make one iota of difference to power bills either are renewables.
The anti renewables hysteria is just a con perpetrated for political purposes. If governments were serious about lowering prices they would buy the poles and wires back and transition to a single desk for price management.
