Wasn't that base station sealed off because it was occupied government land without permission? Or is the base station your mention another one?

KUANTAN: A piece of land used by anti-Lynas group Himpunan Hijau in Taman Balok Makmur here as a blockade camp to disrupt the operations of the rare earth refinery in Gebeng, has been sealed off.

This followed a notice served on them by the Kuantan district and land office on Thursday, ordering the group to remove its structures within 48 hours. The camp was set up on Dec 23.

Policemen and enforcers from the office and the Kuantan Municipal Council moved in to cordon off the base camp area, watched by about 100 Himpunan Hijau supporters, yesterday.

The supporters, who had gathered there earlier, did not stop the enforcers from carrying out their job.

District officer Datuk Norhayad Ahmad said the base camp, with two cargo container cabins, was set up on government land without permission.

She said sufficient time had been given to the group to clear the area.

“This area is now sealed off indefinitely and no activity will be allowed,” she said, adding that there would be no further action against the group.

“It would not be a problem if their camp is moved to a privately-owned land,” she said.
