That is exactly what happened. The staff were called into the board room for what they thought was an early Christmas lunch. They were told Christmas lunch was cancelled and the Christmas party for staff was also a goner. The only party they would be holding was for management and the more important clients (at total cost of $1,000,000).

Staff were told to cancel all appointments for the rest of the afternoon and sit by their desk waiting for a call from HR. They weren't allowed to call anyone and they were made to switch of all their mobiles. When you desk phone rang you knew you were gone. you would walk into the board room where you were advised of your payout. Security would then escort you to your desk were you were only allowed to grab your coat, bag, mobile or purse. Nothing else was allowed to be touched. They would then escort you out the building. Any personal belongings you had would be sent to you. The whole process per staff member was less than 5 minutes from getting the call to being escorted from the building.

You weren't allowed any contact with the outside world. This process started at 10am and finished at 6pm.

Imagine how staff felt sitting there for hours not knowing what was happening.

Management are a bunch of greedy cats. Hope they get what they deserve
