Kanowna Belle Mill
The Kanowna Belle processing plant has an annual throughput capacity of 1.88 million tonnes. It consists of a primary crushing circuit for fresh competent ores followed by a grinding circuit consisting of a semi-autogenous grinding mill operating in closed circuit with a recycle crusher and a ball mill. Refractory ores are processed through a floatation plant to recover a refractory pyrite concentrate that is treated through a two stage roaster. The roaster product and flotation tails are leached through two separate leaching circuits. The plant has been upgraded to process both free milling and refractory ores and has become the regional processing center. As a result of the plant upgrade free milling ores are treated utilizing a new gravity circuit and an expanded leach circuit.
During 2007, Kanowna produced approximately 362,000 ounces of gold at a cash cost of $473/oz1. Proven and probable mineral reserves as of December 31, 2007 are estimated at 1.5 million ounces of gold2.
During 2008, Kanowna is expected to produce 270,000 to 300,000 ounces of gold at cash costs of $430 to $460 per ounce1.
