I'm loving the dual clutch auto in the Audi, complete with paddle shifters on the steering wheel for manual mode.
No slushy torque converter, and with the computer taking care of the clutch switchover, it's only milliseconds between shifts and it's only the change in engine revs that allows shifts to be felt while under throttle. There's a slight jolt under light braking as the downshifts add a bit of engine braking.
And no need to put the selector in manual mode if you need a quick down shift. Just tap the left paddle and it drops a gear and puts it in manual mode until you stop tapping the paddles for a while.
