My understanding is also limited but I have done a lot of reading and I would support Moosey over centrifuge being very inflexible.

The problem as I understand it is that the centrifuge needs to spins very fast (the outer skin has a velocity of over twice the speed of sound). The rotating cylinder need to be very strong (needing exotic materials) and the bearings are levitated magnetic bearings (finely balanced).

As the centrifuge is run up to the speed it goes through "resonances" (i.e extreme vibrations) which have to be very carefully handled - once the centrifuge is up to speed you leave it there as in attempting to slow it down you will undergo the "renounces" again and there is a high likelihood that the centrifuge would be destroyed. That's why centrifuge enrichers "underfeed" their centrifuges with low assay "tails" (like the Russian do) to get down to 0.1% U235 tails even though it's uneconomic for centrifuges to do this but at least the centrifuge stays intact.

Also a centrifuge is highly vulnerable to over speeding (see what the US/Israel did to Iran in their Stuxnet attack see HERE) and any seismic activity. Major advantages of LIS are that it's far more flexible (i.e throughput can be varied), becomes more energy efficient with lower assay (excellent for scavenging tails - that's our edge on PLEF) is also "selective" by enriching (or removing) only the isotope required - centrifuge only works on density so you separate all the light fraction from the heavier ones (along with all the rubbish in those heavier and lighter factions).
