I disagree, I agree it changes nothing for the short term, but long term market still hoped/expected sales would return to China. The appearance of these knock-offs and the so-far lack of any apparent action from the Chinese Authorities implies we're gone from China for good. Seems like China won't be a market for us anymore. The one plus side from this is that it seems the Chinese are so desperate for Penfolds that they'll fall for knock-offs and buy them since we've stopped exports there I assume, not sure that will change the governments will to put illegal tariffs though.

Knock offs in China have been around for 2 decades. It does not only impact Penfolds, but a huge number of other brands in other sectors as well. The Chinese consumer is extremely familiar on how to deal with local fakes. Think handbags, shoes, clothes, milk, manufacturing equipment....
