I tend to agree with you.

Most of the qualities of mankind can be found to some degree in the animal kingdom but they reach their perfection in the human condition.

I don't see a problem with Creation and evolution going hand-in-hand, both can and do coexist without the need for one eliminating the other. Religion and science must exist in fundamental harmony. It is not possible for two sources of understanding and truth to be running counter to each other.

The moment of Creation was when the potential of all possibilities and permutations of existence was made manifest. Evolution is a time-line along which these possibilities come to fruition. It is one of the many tools that work to bring about what in the beginning that has no beginning was the Creation of the essence of possibilities. Evolution is not chance, it is the wisdom of Creation following the dictates of the ongoing Will, reacting to ever changing conditions, moving towards their ultimate goal, us. Humans were predestined, not a fluke of nature. That's why we have dominion over nature.

Literal Creation as in Genesis is a misunderstanding of a far bigger picture, yet it still imparts the proper sense of an Organising Essence. Darwinian evolution misses the cause and effect of the system. It is a system to bring forth 'us' and all our supplementary needs. A sentient being capable of understanding that accidents on the scale and perfection of a universe are impossible. To recognise God.

Religion is hardwired, as you say, a prerequisite. It began in the mists of time and its earliest signs may be seen in the prehistoric cave paintings and seemingly ritualistic burials.

We are spiritual beings, purpose built whether we like it or not. The battleground for our souls is mostly made-up stuff based on the relative truth of religious writings, seen best in the endless dialogue over what was meant by words written thousands of years ago. Misinterpretations of holy writings and human deceit cause us no end of grief. Relative truth only means there is more of the complete truth to be revealed.

No doubt a new religion will arise, if it hasn't already, that will contain the medicine for this age as we move towards planethood. It is definitely not one of the mainstream religions or an off-shoot. They just don't have the tools. All we need now is the wisdom to recognise it when we see it. Not that easy judging by history.
