I am only new to trading myself - two months - have been burned plenty, along with some fabulous wins. I don't really like to buy on open because I just don't have the nerve and it can go south very quickly. For example CNP last week. Went up to .445 on open and in the blink of an eye fell down to .33 and I got stopped out. Still reeling from that one. Another one is GOA. Has shot up massively on open quite a few times in the last week, only to be pushed straight back down (though today is looking promising). Would prefer to buy on close. A strong finish after a solid days action often leads to a nice start to the next day.
Otherwise I prefer to wait until mid morning/early afternoon when I get a sense of what the stock is doing.
