Need some help to clarify how this works...
Lets say before open the market depth of a stock reads
Buyers
1 10,000 25
1 10,000 24
1 100,000 23
Sellers
1 30,000 23
1 30,000 23.5
1 30,000 24
The (100000) buyer at 23 cents takes the initial 30000 shares at 23 cents and then will stay there awaiting the other 70000 at 23 cents.
The buyer at 24 cents will take a 10000 share parcel at 23.5 cents and the buyer at 25 cents will also take a 10000 share parcel at 23.5 cents.
They will not pay the price for which they put down unless there is a buyer who wants to purchase a larger amount of shares at 23.5 and 24 cents. In which case they the are first in line to purchase the shares at the price they initially quoted. Upon market opening.
Hope that reads right.
Any help appreciated.
