I think Terry and JL realised after London Flats was drilled in 2006 that the Niobrara was no neo-bakken. It's a complex formation that is going to require lots of data analysis and patience to unlock the code. Core sampling, logging and 3-D will be mandatory for success here and of course, sitting on a high resistivity sweet spot won't hurt either.
Seems the Evergreen 22 rig is a bit short in the horsepower department to bust through the sandstone / salt capping layer covering the trapped oil under Spirit. Wouldn't be surprised if it was retired to horizontals only after this and something with more mumbo was brought in for the verticals.
Apart from that the rest is sweet. Announcements are starting to reflect the ramping up of the drilling programme with reports about multiply well progress becoming standard content. Defender fraccing next week so not long before we know what lies beneath.
