Karll...,maybe it is just the language used, but my interpretation of "encouraging results.." is that there has been an outcome. eg: a result.
eg: A result (also called upshot) is the final consequence of a sequence of actions or events expressed qualitatively or quantitatively. Possible results include advantage, disadvantage, gain, injury, loss, value and victory.
If it is not a result, then it is an "ongoing discussion or negotiation" which to that regard, I agree, is company sensitive and should/can not be announced.
