Since you are a chess sponsored holder, you own your shares and not Etrade. Also Etrade client accounts are held by ANZ directly therefore your cash with them may be safe. But if you are a CFD client with Etrade, you are dealing with MF Global through Etrade and how it pans out in a crisis I am not sure. Therefore, first thing in the morning on Monday I am going to shut my CFD account with Etrade. I never traded or held cash on CFD’s anyway.
Athough Etrade was taken over by ANZ a few moths back, disclosure does not state the ownership or the representation of ANZ Bank in Etrade dealings and is a worry. When I called last week to clarify this information the answers given were inconclusive to my liking.
