MEE will start their trial burn in 4 months. The trial burn could last up to a couple of years before they can state with any certainty that the site has the right conditions to support UCG without polluting the groundwater. They will then continually monitor groundwater for pollutants from then on. If the trial burn is successful, they will then need to construct the UCG field before they can produce Syngas in any sort of quantity. In short, it will be a couple of years before they are selling Syngas or using to produce electricity. Before all that happens, they have to finalise the deal with the CSIRO.
Another thing to be aware of is QGC is cutting back on production because they are saying there is an Energy glut on the East coast of Australia.
