In 1892 a lawyer-MP turned out to be a bigger crook than Bond and Skase combined. He was discredited but not convicted of anything because his brother was Attorney-General.
A few years later he was even elected president of the victorian law society.
Just today, a judge took himself off a case because of numerous personal connections to one of the parties. To hear the case again will of course cost the parties another 100k but that is not his problem.
Any pretensions that profession has to respectability is a JOKE.
