I also think it is an ironical legacy of the Howard era that we have such a mediocre and self-serving group of ALP pollies today. The brighter people of the "left" side wound up being so disenchanted with his long reign that the often did not seek time in politics. This left us the the D grade team who filled the void. Like or loathe the Hawke & Keating governments, this crowd are not fit to lace their boots.
