You're not missing anything.
That is exactly right.
If they expire then you lose what you paid.
You should always convert a few weeks before the expiry.
In this case, a few weeks before June 30.
You must watch announcements carefully as options will not be considered as FP for any CR. You will normally have around a week to convert to FP after the announcement of a rights issue from what I have seen.
